My memory is terrible.

What I do remember about 1996-1999 and Latino Chrome is a disjointed collage of pot infused youth. Jason Herring, Jason Hanley & Mark Perullo hanging out in a living room off 7th street in Charlotte, NC and writing songs... Marlon and I having never been in a band before (or played music really) somehow found our way in (thanks Herring). Hanley moved on, the amazing Phil Disher came in on drums and the next thing I knew we were on pretty big stages with national and international acts. I was probably still writing on setlists to remind me what notes to play. Eventually Phil moved on and Scott McCannell (before Snug Harbor!) took over on drums.

We worked hard and recorded quite a bit in Mark’s living room and at some great studios in town. I’m still amazed when I look back on how much we practiced and gigged in those days at The Moon Room, The Zen Den, Fat City, The Double Door Inn, Tremont, The Comet and plenty of other places I can’t recall the name of. Sadly, we never got around to making the album we all hoped to make- maybe because Seymour Stein purportedly fell asleep while we opened for Muscadine- who he (quite rightly) signed, or maybe because the mixture of personalities and youthful shenanigans were just a little more than we could tame long enough to get to that next hurdle.

I think these 6 songs are a great representation of Latino Chrome at our best- young, ambitious and stoned.

I’m proud of what we accomplished and learned so much in those days- I’m thankful for everyone that was in the band and for all the awesome people that came out to support our rag tag little group. Mark Perullo and Jason Herring deserve an extra special shout out for making it all a reality. They both changed my life for the better.
